A Double Talent: Patricia Kopatchinskaja plays PatKop

Patricia Kopatchinskaja has long been a regular guest artist at Lucerne Festival as a solo violinist. For previous editions of the Forward Festival, she created two striking staged concerts: Dona nobis pacem and In Search of György Ligeti's Lost Melody, her remarkable homage to Ligeti. Now she steps forward as a composer with a large-scale work, joining forces with the celebrated young cellist Anastasia Kobekina.

Her double concerto Five Dreams, says PatKop – the name Kopatchinskaja uses for her work as a composer – is “about friendships, shared history, and the echoes of the past.” It’s an autobiographical piece infused with theatrical touches.
