School Workshops

  • Dream Oasis: The Listening Expedition | for 3rd to 6th year primary school

What does nature sound like in classical music? In this 50-minute interactive workshop for grades 3–6, children explore musical works that they selected in advance through a joint survey with other classes, now featured in the Lucerne Festival Dream Oasis. In small groups, they listen to short excerpts, link them to natural objects, and share their perceptions. In the process, they listen, discover, and marvel – right on Europaplatz at the Dream Oasis, no matter the weather. Only one class can participate per time slot.

Programs for Upper Secondary Schools

  • Gschafft!

In 2024, Lucerne Festival launched its new "Gschafft!" initiative: all graduates of Lucerne’s cantonal schools and upper secondary schools receive, upon completing their studies, an invitation to a concert at the Summer Festival – for themselves and a guest.

Through this initiative, Lucerne Festival aims to make classical music more accessible and warmly welcomes young graduates as part of Lucerne’s cultural community.

A visit to Lucerne Festival is intended to become part of every successful graduation – and an experience that resonates long afterwards.

The "Gschafft!" initiative is made possible through the generous support of the Arthur Waser Foundation.

Classical Music for All: Open Air

Classical Music for All

Want to get a taste of the Festival? Everyone is welcome to the new open-air kickoff and our popular 40min concerts — with free admission. In this way, Zurich Insurance would like to make classical music accessible to a broader audience.

ABC’s of Classical Music

How long is a tuba? What does the concert hall have to do with a shoe box? Can a baton make music? Our web series for ages 8 and up presents selected terms from the ABC’s of classical music using short videos (in German but with visuals and musical examples).

Discounts

For events that are not sold out, special online offers will be available during the 2026 Summer Festival for students and secondary-school or vocational students up to and including age 29, starting four hours before the concert begins (these may only be booked online).
