  • Ark Nova

Music is hope! Reaffirming that idea in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Fukushima, Japan, in 2011, Lucerne Festival’s Executive and Artistic Director Michael Haefliger, concert agent Masahide Kajimoto, star architect Arata Isozaki, and artist Sir Anish Kapoor created the world’s first-ever inflatable concert hall: the Ark Nova. The spectacular pink and aubergine design echoes a snail shell: a place of comfort and warmth. Ark Nova opened its doors in Japan in 2013, giving the victims of the tsunami hope and new perspectives. We are now continuing this tradition: from 4 to 14 September, the “New Ark” will come to Lucerne for the first and only time. It will be in operation on the Lidowiese, right next to Lake Lucerne, in front of the Swiss Museum of Transport. The colorfully varied program that will be presented there ranges from classical to folk and pop – music for everyone in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy an artistic experience that appeals to the senses and let yourself be inspired.
