Olivia Vermeulen

Dutch mezzo-soprano Olivia Vermeulen performs an exceptionally broad repertoire, ranging from early music to world premieres. Her Baroque credits include works by Vivaldi, Steffani, and Scarlatti at the Berlin Staats­oper and at the Opéra national de Paris; she has also sung Mozart’s Cherubino at Zurich Opera and Donna Elvira with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under René Jacobs. In contemporary repertoire, she has appeared in the world premieres of Philippe Manoury’s Kein Licht and Thomas Larcher’s Das Jagd­gewehr and in a new production of John Adams’ The Death of Klinghoffer conducted by the composer himself. On the concert stage, Olivia Vermeulen has collaborated with Giovanni Antonini, Iván Fischer, Daniel Harding, Philippe Herreweghe, Jordi Savall, and Masaaki Suzuki, among others. Her solo album Dirty Minds received both the German Record Critics’ Award and the Edison Klassiek Award.
