Tenor Alexey Dolgov began voice studies in 2001 with Rimma Zhukova in Novosibirsk and completed his education with Zurab Sotkilava at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. He launched his career as a soloist at the Stanislavsky Theater in the Russian capital, where he took on such roles as Rodolfo (La Bohème), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor). In 2008 Dolgov made his American debut as the Duke in Rigoletto at Washington National Opera; immediately afterward he was invited to sing at Houston Grand Opera and at Los Angeles Opera, where he appeared as Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata. In the autumn of 2010, Alexey Dolgov will perform the role of Cassio in several performances of Verdi’s Otello with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Harding. In addition, he will sing Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux in Montreal and returns to Washington as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly.
