The Swedish composer Lisa Streich is curious about new and surprising listening experiences. In Ishjärta, the orchestra weaves a delicate web of warm textures and eerie cold sounds. The ensemble piece Francesca even aspires to heavenly spheres. A new trumpet concerto will also be introduced.
Even though Beat Furrer likes to retreat to a lonely forester’s lodge to compose, he “walks through the world with open ears” and tries to “understand what is happening around me by listening.” Born in Schaffhausen and a transplant to Austria, Furrer, who celebrates his 70th birthday in 2024, is one of the most significant composers of our time. In Lucerne, he will unveil a new orchestral piece and conduct the Swiss premiere of his opera Begehren.
