Description

After their wall-shaking performance of Wolfgang Rihm’s Tutuguri at the KKL Luzern, the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra (LFCO) now takes the work on tour. The young musicians will perform it at Musikfest Berlin and at the Bavarian Radio’s musica viva series in Munich. As in Lucerne, they will be led by Jörg Widmann, the new Artistic Director of the Lucerne Festival Academy. In his view, Tutuguri is nothing less than Rihm’s “masterpiece.” “Music of tremendous power, written with leonine force,” says Widmann. “Any other composer would have run out of steam after just a few minutes of such relentless intensity. Not Rihm: with him, it is the listeners who are left breathless, spellbound by this torrent of sound.”
