From 2016 to 2018, he gained stage experience in the Opera Studio of Oper Köln, which subsequently engaged him as part of its permanent ensemble. He has appeared there as Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff, the title role in Gounod’s Faust, Erik in Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, and Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca, as well as in the rarely performed Die Vögel by Walter Braunfels. Guest appearances have taken Kim to Sydney and Melbourne with Opera Australia, to the opera houses in Frankfurt and Hamburg, to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, and to Garsington Opera in the United Kingdom. In May 2026, as part of the period-instrument project “The Wagner Cycles,” he made his role debut as Siegfried in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung at the Dresden Music Festival.
