Vita

Tenor Russell Thomas, a native of Miami, acquired early stage experience as part of the Metropolitan Opera Young Artists Program. In 2008 he won the Competizione dell’opera in Dresden and, in 2010, the prestigious Concurso Francisco Viñas in Barcelona. Following this came engagements to perform major roles for an array of international companies, such as the Duke in Rigoletto in Santiago de Chile, Offenbach’s Hoffmann at the Canadian Opera Company, and Faust in Berlioz’s Damnation at Frankfurt Opera. Thomas’s highlights in the current season include Mozart’s Titus at the Metropolitan Opera and his debut as Gabriele Adorno in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at the Royal Opera House in London. He also sings Erik in a concert performance of Wagner’s Flying Dutchman with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Andris Nelsons and Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with Matthias Pintscher and the New York Philharmonic.
