Born in 1982 in Überlingen on Lake Constance, bass Patrick Zielke studied with Dunja Vejzovic in Stuttgart. In 2012, he won prizes at the Concours Ernst Haefliger and the Richard Wagner Competition. After beginning his career at the Luzerner Theater, he moved to Theater Bremen in 2013 and to the National Theater Mannheim in 2017, where he made his role debuts as Fafner, Hunding, and Hagen in the Ring cycle. Credits also include appearances at the Stuttgart Staatsoper, Theater Basel, Frankfurt Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Berlin Staatsoper. In February 2027, to mark the Beethoven anniversary, he will appear as Rocco in a new production of Leonore at the Theater an der Wien. Zielke’s repertoire also includes Italian works such as Verdi’s Don Carlo (Filippo II) and operas by Prokofiev and Shostakovich. In 2020, he received the German Theater Prize “Der Faust” for his portrayal of Ochs auf Lerchenau in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier.
