The molto cantabile choir was founded in 2003 and comprises singers from Lucerne and the surrounding area. The ensemble was soon able to gain recognition through its success in numerous competitions, including the European Music Festival for Youth in Neerpelt (2004), the Swiss Choral Competition (2005), the Cork Choral Festival in Ireland (2008), and the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf (2011). But the ensemble has not traveled abroad merely to appear in competitions: along with its concert series in Lucerne and Switzerland, molto cantabile was invited this past April by Eric Whitacre to take part in his choral project This Shining Night at Carnegie Hall in New York. The singers have been seen on Swiss television, appearing in 2007 in the folk music program Hopp de Bäse. Since its founding, the choir, which has released four CDs to date, has been led by Andreas Felber.
