Martina Janková, a Swiss soprano with Czech roots, studied in Ostrava and Basel and began her professional career at Zurich Opera, where she was a member until 2012. While in Zurich, she worked with William Christie, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Marc Minkowski, and Franz Welser-Möst, performing a broad repertoire ranging from Baroque opera to Pfitzner and Janáček. Martina Janková enjoys an excellent reputation as a Mozart performer in particular; she has appeared at the Salzburg Festival as Despina in Così fan tutte and as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Additional credits include appearances at the opera houses of Vienna, Milan, and Paris. As a concert singer, Martina Janková has performed with the Berlin, Munich, Israel, and Czech Philharmonics and with the Leipzig Gewandhaus and Cleveland Orchestras. She is also a soughtafter lied singer and regularly gives recitals.
