Born in 1980, the French choreographer Martin Chaix received his dance training at the École de Danse de l’Opéra in Paris. In 1999, he joined the company of the Opéra national de Paris, and in 2006 he became a soloist with Leipzig Ballet. From 2009 to 2015, he danced with Ballett am Rhein in Düsseldorf/Duisburg. He has performed in works by Georges Balanchine, Pina Bausch, John Cranko, Merce Cunningham, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylian, John Neumeier, and Martin Schläpfer. Chaix made his choreographic debut at the Paris Opéra in 2006 with Pars de l’Autre. Since then, he has created more than 30 works, combining modern and classical elements. In 2020, his Silentium premiered at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow; in 2023, his interpretation of Adolphe Adam’s Giselle for the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg was nominated for the Prix Benois de la Danse. In June 2025, he made his debut with the Vienna State Ballet with Kreationen.
