Born in Tambov in Central Russia, bassist Konstantin Gorny studied voice at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and meanwhile began his singing career in German-speaking countries. He made his opera debut as the high priest Baal in Verdi’s Nabucco in 1993 at the Bregenz Festival; afterward he was engaged by opera houses in Bremen, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Dresden, Wiesbaden, Weimar, and Stuttgart.
