Johannes Kammler

Born in Augsburg in 1988, baritone Johannes Kammler received his first musical training as a member of his hometown cathedral choir. He later studied voice in Freiburg im Breisgau, Toronto, and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Kammler is active both in concert and on the opera stage. His international breakthrough came in 2018 at the Salzburg Festival in Gottfried von Einem’s Der Prozess. That same year, he joined the Stuttgart Staatsoper as a permanent ensemble member, appearing there in roles including Mozart’s Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), as well as Donizetti’s Malatesta (Don Pasquale). Kammler has collaborated with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Gustavo Dudamel, and Sir Simon Rattle and has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berliner Philharmoniker. In 2026, he made his role debut as Gunther in Götterdämmerung.
