Ida Aldrian

Austrian mezzo-soprano Ida Aldrian studied with Marjana Lipovšek at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, among others, and attended master classes with Ann Murray, Bernarda Fink, Thomas Hampson, and Brigitte Fassbaender. After starting out at the Hamburg Opera Studio and Nurem­berg Opera, she joined the Hamburg Staats­oper in 2019, where her roles have included Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Meg Page in Verdi’s Falstaff, and Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Guest appearances have taken Aldrian to Paris, Vienna, Salzburg, Linz, Prague, Amsterdam, and Cologne; to the Styriarte festival in Graz; and to the Handel Festival in Halle, where she sang the title role in Ariodante. In concert, she has performed in Schumann’s Requiem for Mignon, Bach’s Passions, Handel’s Israel in Egypt, Beet­hoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mahler’s Third Symphony, and song recitals.
