The bass Garry Agadzhanyan, who was born in 1977 in Yerevan, Armenia, studied at the Mussorgsky State Conservatory in Ekaterinburg. He won the Glinka Competition in 2007 and the Concorso Vincenzo Bellini in 2012. From 2004 to 2017, he was a member of the Ekaterinburg State Opera ensemble and subsequently transferred to the Perm Opera House. In 2009 he sang King René in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, having performed this role as well at the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg in 2012. Agadzhanyan made his debut as Konchak in Borodin’s Prince Igor at the Novosibirsk Opera in 2011 and as Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin two years later at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. He has performed with musicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and the Cologne Philharmonie. Garry Agadzhanyan was awarded the Golden Mask in 2013.
