Following studies in musicology and voice at Bristol University and at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Welsh tenor Gareth Treseder participated in the training program of John Eliot Gardiner’s Monteverdi Choir. During this time he was also performing as the ensemble’s soloist at the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Berlin Philharmonie, and Cadogan Hall in London. Gardiner subsequently engaged him to perform in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic; additional credits include Handel’s Dixit Dominus at Buckingham Palace, Mozart’s Requiem at Royal Albert Hall, Schumann’s Paradies und die Peri with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater at the Vienna Konzerthaus. Gareth Treseder is also a composer whose works are published by Boosey & Hawkes; two of his choral compositions were recently recorded by the BBC Singers.
