After his training as a singer and choirmaster at the Moscow Academy of Choral Art, Evgeny Stavinsky, who was born in Dubna, Russia, continued his studies at the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in 2004-05. Since 2006 he has been a member of the New Moscow Opera ensemble, where he has appeared in the great bass roles by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Wagner, and Strauss. Stavinsky, who is also a conductor and who leads the Dubna Municipal Symphony Orchestra, has made guest appearances at the Mariinsky Theater, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Hungarian State Opera, and the Royal Opera House in London. In the concert hall, he sang in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony under Riccardo Muti this summer in Ravenna and Athens, and in the 2019-20 season he will perform in Mozart’s and Verdi’s Requiem settings under Currentzis in New York and Baden-Baden. He was awarded the Golden Mask in 2018.
