Claudia Blersch works as a director and organizer, especially at Zurich Opera. She studied political science and Italian in Milan and Konstanz before graduating in cultural studies from Zurich University of Art and Design. Since 2003 she has been creating her own stagings, including of Mozart’s Così fan tutte in Friedrichshafen, Telemann’s Pimpinone for the Zurich Festival, and the Nietzsche-Wagner collage Wahnfried in Zurich. At the last-named opera house, she has directed the world premieres of Anno Schreier’s music theater work Behind Masks, Telemann’s The Patient Socrates (with the International Opera Studio), and Jonathan Dove’s musical The Enchanted Pig. She has staged additional productions for Swiss Pocket Opera, Theater Rigiblick, and Bluebird Productions. Her video installations PEEPSHOW/Salome and SLOTMACHINE/Tosca received distinctions at the 2007 Festival of the Arts of the Zurich University of the Arts.
