London-born soprano Ania Vegry studied with Christiane Iven and Charlotte Lehmann in Hanover, as well as with Teresa Berganza in Madrid. Following a twelve-year engagement at the Hanover Staatsoper, she moved to the Theater Dessau in 2020, where she appeared as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Roxane in Szymanowski’s Król Roger, and Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata. Her concert repertoire ranges from Monteverdi and Bach to Nono and Reimann. Ania Vegry has made guest appearances at venues including the Opéra national de Paris, the Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper Berlin, the Philharmonie concert halls in Berlin and Munich, and the Rheingau Music Festival. She has released CDs featuring arias by Florian Gassmann — whose works she has also edited — and the complete songs for voice and piano by Polish-Jewish composer Szymon Laks. Her most recent appearance in the “Wagner Cycles” came in 2024, when she sang Ortlinde in Die Walküre.
