The London-born soprano Ania Vegry studied with Christiane Iven and Charlotte Lehmann in Hanover and with Teresa Berganza in Madrid. A period of twelve years singing at the Hanover Staatsoper was followed in 2020 by an engagement at Theater Dessau, where she has appeared in recent years as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Roxana in Szymanowski’s Król Roger, and Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata. Her concert repertoire ranges from Monteverdi and Bach to Nono and Reimann. Ania Vegry has performed at the Opéra national de Paris, the Deutsche and Komische Oper Berlin, the Berlin and Munich Philharmonies, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Sommerliche Tage and Musikwoche Hitzacker. She has recorded opera arias by Florian Gassmann, which she also prepared as an editor, as well as the complete output of piano songs by the Polish-Jewish composer Szymon Laks.
