The bass-baritone Alex Esposito, who was born in 1975, studied in his native Bergamo and launched his career with appearances at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari as well as at the Teatro dell’
Opera in Rome; in 2007 he was named Best Singer of the Year at the acclaimed Premio Abbiati. His repertoire focuses on the operas of Mozart and Rossini. He has appeared as Leporello in Don Giovanni at La Scala in Milan and at Deutsche Oper Berlin; was the first Italian to sing the role of Papageno at the Bavarian Staatsoper, where his credits also include Figaro and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte); and is a regular guest at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. Other engagements have taken Esposito, who has collaborated with such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Sir Antonio Pappano, Myung-Whun Chung, and Daniele Gatti, to the Vienna Staatsoper, the Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Opera House in London, Salzburg, and Aix-en-Provence.
