Each Summer, Lucerne Festival partners with the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung to present the "räsonanz" – Donor Concert where contemporary works are performed by top international orchestras and renowned soloists. This year, Susanna Mälkki and her Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra will make the aurora borealis glimmer in the Lucerne Festival sky: Works of Mälkki's compatriots Kaija Saariaho and Jean Sibelius are paired with the Symphony No. 8 by Danish composer Per Nørgård. Mälkki will also bring Dieter Ammann's world-renowned piano concerto "Gran Toccata" to Switzerland for the first time.

To set the mood for this fabulous program, conductor Susanna Mälkki, pianist Andreas Haefliger, and composer Kaija Saariaho offer exclusive insights into the works they will be performing in Lucerne.
