Schlösslistrasse 2
6045 Meggen
The Pius Church in Meggen is considered the magnum opus of Swiss architect Franz Füeg, as well as a milestone in modern sacred architecture. Built between 1960 and 1966, the building impresses with its clear geometry and walls of thin marble that flood the interior with light, bathing it in a soft, warm glow. The radical simplicity of the design focuses attention entirely on the spiritual atmosphere. Thanks to its exceptional acoustics, the Pius Church offers a unique setting for concerts. It is one of the region's architectural icons.
From the Lucerne train station, you can reach the Piuskirche by taking the S3 or the Voralpen-Express to the “Meggen Zentrum” stop (zone 10). Several bus routes are also available from the train station. Take line 24 to the “Schlössli” stop, lines 6 or 8 to the “Brüelstrasse” stop, and then change to line 25 to the “Piuskirche” stop.
Travelers from Zug/Zurich: Please note that the Reuss bridge in Lucerne is closed from Friday evening, 10 p.m. until Monday morning due to renovation work.
