Take the finest soloists, chamber musicians, music teachers, and members of Europe’s top orchestras and being them together in a deluxe ensemble: this is the idea behind the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. This unique “orchestra of friends” was founded in 2003 by Claudio Abbado and Michael Haefliger. Riccardo Chailly has served as its Music Director since 2016. The Lucerne Festival Orchestra is a highlight of the programs during the Summer Festival as well as the three-day Spring Festival, delighting young and old alike.
From all over the world outstanding musicians are in charge of each group of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. They draw on their expertise and dedication to decisively shape the orchestra as a single organism.
A donation of CHF 25,000 enables you to support the presence of an orchestra member who is particularly close to your heart and makes it possible to ensure that year after year the orchestra is filled with outstanding musicians.
