Reinhard Traub

Reinhard Traub was trained as a graphic designer and a commercial pilot before he became an assistant to Chenault Spence (1980 to 1985) in the field of lighting design; he then completed two world tours with Sophisticated Ladies and Carmen Jones. In the 1992-93 season he was engaged by the Graz Theater, and he has belonged to the permanent staff of the Staatstheater in Stuttgart since 2006. Reinhard Traub has been a lighting designer for Zurich Opera; for Bavarian, Stuttgart, and Hamburg Staatsoper; and for the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussles, as well as at the Salzburg and Glyndebourne Festivals. He has been involved in productions staged by the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Vienna Burgtheater, and the Volksbühne in Berlin. His artistic partners have included such directors as Johann Kresnik, Peter Konwitschny, Martin Kušej, and Christof Loy. Since fall 2001 he has taught at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design.
