Raphael Christ

The violinist Raphael Christ, who was born in 1982, comes from Berlin and was trained by such figures as Thomas Brandis, Antje Weithaas, and Rai-ner Kussmaul; in addition he took master classes with Igor Ozim, Christian Altenburger, and Zakhar Bron. In 1998 he made his debut as a soloist with the Berlin Staatskapelle under Daniel Barenboim; since then he has been a guest artist with numerous European orchestras. The multiple-prize-winning Christ played for three years in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra as concertmaster; in 2006 he was named section leader of the second violins in the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA, and since 2011 he has served as permanent concertmaster with the Bochum Symphony. Christ has performed at the Lockenhaus, Jerusalem, Braunschweig, and Chambéry Festivals. He plays chamber music with the flutist Emmanuel Pahud, the violinists Nikolaj Znaider and Renaud Capuçon, the violist Gérard Caussé, and the pianist Bruno Canino.
