The soprano Olga Kulchynska, who was born in 1990 in Rivne, Ukraine, studied music theory before she began her vocal training at the age of 19 with Maria Stefiuk at the Tchaikovsky Music Academy in Kiev. She has won various international competitions, including the Francisco Viñas Competition in Barcelona in 2015, and began her career in the Opera Studio of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, which subsequently engaged her as part of its permanent ensemble. She has appeared there as Marfa in Rimsky’s The Tsar’s Bride, Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème, Susanna in Mozart’s Figaro, and Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Since 2018 she has been permanently engaged at Zurich Opera, where she made her debut as Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi in 2015. She has also appeared at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Opéra national de Paris, the Bavarian Staatsoper, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Dutch National Opera, and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie.
