Nathan Medley received degrees in voice and historically informed performance practice from Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio; he also took master classes with Marilyn Horne, Emma Kirkby, and Ellen Hargis. Currently he is a regular member of two American ensembles devoted to early music: Echoing Air and Vox et Dignitas, and he concertizes throughout the United States with both. Medley’s repertoire encompasses both Baroque and contemporary works and spans from such roles as Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Dema in Cavalli’s L’Egisto, and Le Peinture in Charpentier’s Les Arts Florissants to Oberon in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Additionally he performs in such oratorios as Handel’s Messiah, Carissimi’s Jephta, and Bach’s St. John Passion. A sought-after voice instructor as well, Nathan Medley teaches at Marian University and the University of Indiana.
