British bass-baritone Matthew Brook a wide repertoire that encompasses Purcell and Rameau to Britten and Menotti. He maintains a close partnership with John Eliot Gardiner, under whose baton he has sung, among other roles, Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro at the Royal Opera House in London, at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, and at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Gardiner has also engaged him in numerous Bach concerts throughout Europa and on a tour with the Mozart Requiem to San Francisco and New York. Matthew Brook has recorded Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ with Richard Hickox and Mozart’s Idomeneo with Charles Mackerras. Other significant artistic partners include Harry Christophers and The Sixteen, Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques, and Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort, as well as Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent. Matthew Brook has made guest appearances at numerous international festivals, including those in Edinburgh, Cheltenham, and Utrecht, the BBC Proms, and the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music.
