Houston-born soprano Latonia Moore initially studied gospel and jazz singing before receiving her classical training at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. She began her career as a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Italian Opera Singing Competition in Dresden, and the Concours International d’Opéra in Marseille. Moore has made guest appearances as Mimì in La Bohème at Dresden’s Semperoper, Liù in Turandot at London’s Royal Opera House, and Verdi’s Aida at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She has collaborated with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra to sing Musetta in La Bohème and with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic to perform Bess in Porgy and Bess. In 2022-23, she will appear as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly at Berlin’s Lindenoper and is part of the ensemble of a new production of Terence Blanchard’s Champion at the Met.
