Vita

Founded in 1962, the Chœur du Grand Théatre de Genève sings the choral parts for all the music theater performances by this renowned company. Currently the chorus consists of 46 professional singers of various nationalities, with occasional supplemental forces when required. The Choir has also earned a considerable reputation in the concert hall and has performed on numerous tours and recorded a diverse repertoire. Special mention should be made of the partnership with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and its conductors. In the nearly 50 years of the Choir’s existence, directors have included Giovanni Bria, Philippe Cart, Paul-André Gaillard, Jean Larforge, and Guillaume Tourniaire. Chinese conductor Ching-Lien Wu has served as head of the Chœur du Grand Théatre de Genève since July 2001.
