Kristiina Poska, who was born in 1978 in Türi, Estonia, initially studied  choral conducting at the Music Academy in Tallinn before graduating with a degree in conducting under Christian Ehwald at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin. Following her first engagements at theaters in Koblenz and Brandenburg, from 2012 to 2016 she was appointed First Kapellmeisterin at the Komische Oper Berlin, where she worked on such productions as Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins and Mozart’s The Magic Flute. She has additionally conducted at the Hamburg Staatsoper, Stockholm Royal Opera, Vienna Volksoper, Helsinki National Opera, and, with Valtinoni’s The Wizard of Oz over the past season, at Zurich Opera. In the concert hall, Kristiina Poska has led the Munich Philharmonic, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, and various German radio orchestras.
