Born in Los Angeles in 1992, Kit Armstrong studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Alfred Brendel was also a significant guide and mentor. In addition to his musical training, Armstrong completed a master’s degree in mathematics at the University of Paris. He has appeared as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, while as a chamber musician he has collaborated with Renaud Capuçon, Daniel Müller-Schott, and Julian Prégardien, as well as with Quatuor Ebène and the Armida Quartet. Since 2016, he has also given recitals on the organ. Kit Armstrong has recorded several CDs: most recently, an album of works by English virginalists William Byrd and John Bull, which was released in 2021. He received the Leonard Bernstein Award in 2010 and the Beethoven Ring in 2018.

LUCERNE FESTIVAL debut on 25 November 2016 with a program of works by William Byrd, Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, and Franz Liszt.
