Russian violinist Aleksey Igudesman and British-Korean pianist Hyung-ki Joo met at the age of twelve at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England. Since 2004, they have been presenting shows that combine classical music and comedy, i.e., that don’t take “serious” music too seriously. The duo’s first program was A Little Nightmare Music, and they have presented many others since, including And Now Mozart, Play it Again, Big Nightmare Music, and And Now Beethoven. Among the special guests with whom they have appeared are such musicians as Emanuel Ax, Joshua Bell, Janine Jansen, Gidon Kremer, Mischa Maisky, and Yuja Wang, as well as actors like John Malkovich and Roger Moore. Igudesman & Joo are themselves also composers and have received commissions from the New York and Oslo Philharmonics, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. In 2019 they published their book Saving the World. Their clips have received more than 45 million views on YouTube.
