German mezzo-soprano Eva Vogel studied at Mannes College of Music in New York and Yale University and took lessons with Christa Ludwig and Brigitte Fassbaender. Following engagements with the Cologne Opera Studio and the opera houses in Düsseldorf and Innsbruck, Vogel is now a freelance singer. Credits include the Royal Opera House in London, the Berlin Staatsoper, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Salzburg Easter Festival, and the Göttingen Handel Festival, as well as appearances in Vienna, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Turin, New York, Tokyo, and Beijing. Her concert repertoire ranges from Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony through Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été, Verdi’s Requiem, and Mahler’s Song of the Earth to rarities such as Georg Benda’s melodrama Medea and Swiss composer Hans Huber’s oratorio Weissagung und Erfüllung, which she performed in Basel.
