The American singer and songwriter Della Miles was a child when she discovered her passion for music, garnering important experiences in a variety of gospel choirs and at her parents’ club in Houston, Texas. Before she began her solo career, she worked with such figures as Stevie Wonder, Marla Glenn, Joshua Kadison, and especially Whitney Houston, with whom she toured around the world for four years, from 1997 to 2001. In Los Angeles she had previously undertaken the title role in the Michael Jackson musical Sisterella. She has likewise toured with Marius Müller-Westernhagen; he also produced Simple Days, the album she released after her debut CD Follow Me. At the Komische Oper Berlin in 2012, Della Miles created the role of Eleanor in the world premiere of Olga Neuwirth’s opera American Lulu, which she has also performed at the Theater an der Wien.
