Bassist Brindley Sherratt, a native of Lancashire, studied voice and trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music. He is a regular guest at the Royal Opera House in London and at English National Opera, where he has sung important roles in his repertoire, including Gremin, Pimen, Sarastro, Sparafucile, and Ramfis. The Glyndebourne Festival invited him to appear as Rocco in a new production of Beethoven’s Fidelio, and he sang Hobson in Britten’s Peter Grimes in 2005 at the Salzburg Easter Festival under the baton of Simon Rattle, performing Balducci in Benvenuto Cellini by Berlioz at the 2007 Summer Festival. Other appearances have taken  Brindley Sherratt to the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Hamburg State Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Welsh National Opera. Recently he sang King Marke in a concert performance of Tristan by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Daniel Harding; he studied Beethoven’s Ninth with Antonio Pappano in Rome and Les Noces of Stravinsky with Pierre Boulez and the Ensemble intercontemporain.
