Read moreOn 5 September 2025 at 7.00, Lucerne Festival invites you to a special experience: the sunrise concert in the inflatable Ark Nova concert hall on the Lidowiese. Young musicians from the Lucerne Festival Academy will perform works by Debussy, Takemitsu, Glass, Ravel, Rossini and Schubert – music that perfectly complements the rising sun.
The concert opens with Claude Debussy's Syrinx for solo flute and continues with The Snow is Dancing from Children's Corner in a version for marimba and vibraphone. Works by Takemitsu, including In The Shadows and Rocking Mirror, will be performed on two violins, followed by the opening from Philip Glass' Glassworks – arranged for two marimbas. Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte will be presented in a version for marimba and vibraphone. Rossini's horn quartet Le Rendez-vous de chasse and arrangements from Schubert's Winterreise and Deutsche Tänze round off the atmospheric programme.
The Ark Nova, the impressive inflatable concert hall and unique venue at the festival, creates a special atmosphere – an interplay of modern architecture, nature and classical music that makes the start of the day very special.
