Podcast zur «Eroica» von Mattia Caputo, Andrina Däppen und Chantal Kern
With his Third Symphony, the Eroica, Ludwig van Beethoven radically redefined the symphonic genre. All sorts of legends surround the creation of this work, which celebrates the ideals of the French Revolution and was originally intended to be dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte.
In 2026, Lucerne Festival once again collaborated with the CAS “Musik vermitteln” of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts HSLU. As part of a practical exercise on “concert introductions,” the students created two podcasts designed to whet listeners’ appetite for Beethoven’s Eroica and the opening concert of Lucerne Festival Spring 2026 respectively.
A second group of students (Felicitas Bründler, Mélanie Adami, and András Huszti) developed a child-friendly concert introduction, which they presented during the first concert of Lucerne Festival Spring on 27 March.
Two school classes from the region got to discover the secrets of Beethoven’s music, found out everything about the concert program, met Lucerne Festival Orchestra principal horn player Ivo Gass for a personal conversation, and, as a highlight, were of course able to experience the Lucerne Festival Orchestra’s concert live in the large KKL concert hall.
