Lucerne Festival traditionally programs its Summer Festival around a general thematic concept that runs through the choice of works like a leitmotif. Since 2019, the Clariant Foundation has committed itself to being a Theme Sponsor of the Summer Festival. This commitment also includes two concert sponsorings as well as the grand opening reception. The Clariant Foundation did also sponsor the Lucerne Festival Orchestra residency in Shanghai, which took place in October 2019.
Starting 2021, the Clariant Foundation will additionally support Music for Future to ensure an overall funding approach.
