Frank Dupree in Conversation

Performers

Program

19.00
The pianist Frank Dupree in conversation with Martina Hunziker about his career, his balancing act between musical styles, and his fondness for American composers.

This will be followed by an opportunity to mingle over an apéritif.

Description

Classical music and jazz: Do they go together? For Frank Dupree, definitely! Born in Rastatt in 1991, the pianist initially studied jazz drums before switching to the piano; today, he pursues both paths: He performs with major orchestras and at major classical music festivals. But he’s also dedicated to jazz, for example with his Frank Dupree Trio. That’s why he’s the ideal soloist for this year’s opening concert on August 14, when George Gershwin’s Concerto in F will make classical music swing. Before the concert, Frank Dupree will speak with Martina Hunziker about his unusual career path, his balancing act between musical styles, and his fondness for American composers.
