The tenor Thomas Blondelle, who was born in Bruges in 1982, studied voice, piano, and composition at his hometown conservatory, as well as musicology at the University of Leuven. A prizewinner of the Viñas Competition, the Concours Reine Elisabeth, and the Belvedere Competition, he launched his career as Hans Scholl in Zimmermann’s Die weisse Rose at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. In 2006, he joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Braunschweig, and from 2009 to 2023 he was a company member at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Blondelle performs a repertoire ranging from Mozart to the present day. He has appeared at the Bavarian and Stuttgart Staatsoper companies, Frankfurt Opera, and Dutch National Opera, as well as at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and the Bregenz Festival, where in 2025 he sang Max in Weber’s Der Freischütz. He is taking on the role of Siegfried for the first time in the Wagner Cycles.
