Tansel Akzeybek, who was born in Berlin and raised in Izmir, studied at the Izmir Conservatory and the Lübeck Musikhochschule. Following engagements in Dortmund and Bonn, the tenor has been part of the Komische Oper Berlin ensemble since 2012, singing such roles as Mozart’s Tamino and Ferrando, Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Lysander in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Tony in West Side Story, and Pylades in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride. Other important roles include Tom Rakewell in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, and the title role in Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers. Akzeybek’s guest credits include the Opéra national de Paris, the Paris Opéra Comique, the Bavarian and Dresden Staatsoper companies, at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, as well as in Valencia, Geneva, and Tokyo and at the Salzburg Easter Festival. He appeared annually at the Bayreuth Festival from 2015 to 2022.
