A self-taught percussionist, Peter Conradin Zumthor was born in 1979 and lives in Haldenstein/Graubünden. He has appeared on the scene for years both nationally and internationally, performing unusual, innovative music. He has initiated numerous projects, and the scope of his involvement ranges from compositions for his own groups along with works commissioned by various ensembles to premieres of contemporary pieces, solo performances, and pure improvisation, as well as music for radio plays and the theater, installations, conceptual works involving the intersection of music and visual art, and literature-inspired settings. He and the pianist Vera Kappeler have played as the duo Kappeler/Zumthor since 2010, which made its debut on the prestigious ECM label with Babylon Suite. Zumthor's acclaimed solo album Grünschall was released in 2017. He wrote his first theater piece, Loneliness Kills Anna, in 2019. Zumthor's work has received the Kak Tapir Cultural Award.
