Vita

Born in Judenburg, Austria, in 1990, Johanna Pichlmair began violin lessons at the age of six with Alexandra Rappitsch. In 2008 she commenced studies with Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She continued her training with Antje Weithaas, Ning
Feng, and Nora Chastain in Berlin and received a scholarship to attend the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 2014 to 2016. Johanna Pichlmair has won prizes at numerous competitions, including first prize at the Concours Ysaÿe in Liège and second prize at the Concours de Montréal and the Max Rostal Competition. She was
accepted into the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2017 and has been a member of the Berlin Philharmonic’s first violin section since 2020. Johanna Pichlmair has performed as a soloist with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonic Orchestra Graz.
