Vita

Born in Naples, the soprano Caterina Di Tonno studied piano, violin, and voice in Pescara and took masterclasses with Shirley Verrett, Regina Resnik, and Mariella Devia. She launched her career after winning the Toti Dal Monte Competition in 2007, initially focusing on Mozart roles and bel canto opera. She has appeared as Zerlina, Susanna, and Despina in Antonello Manacorda and Damiano Michieletto’s production of the Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Her credits include engagements at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, and the Jesi i Napoli Festival, as well as at opera houses in Cagliari, Lugo, and Treviso. Di Tonno has also appeared in film adaptations of Verdi’s Rigoletto (directed by Marco Bellocchio) and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi (directed by Damiano Michieletto).
