Swedish alto Anna Zander began her career as a jazz musician before undertaking voice training in the classical tradition with Susanne Rydén at the Royal Music School in Stockholm, where she specialized in Baroque repertoire. In 2004 she won First Prize in the Austrian Brunnenthal Competition for Early Music. Concerts with Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra ensued. Along with her engagement as a member of Swedish Radio Chorus she has been developing a solo career. Anna Zander has appeared with the Munich Bach Choir and the Leipzig Thomanerchor Leipzig; she has performed Handel’s Semele with the Ricercar Consort in Italy, Spain, and France, and recently sang in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with the Collegium Vocale Ghent in Holland and Belgium. In the opera house, she has been seen in a production of Die Zauberflöte at the Drottningholm Theater and as Purcell’s Dido at the Piteå Chamber Opera.
