The soprano Anja Fidelia Ulrich, a native of Fürth, completed her vocal training under Horst R. Laubenthal at the Würzburg Music Academy and in 2004 received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Society. Since the 2006-07 season she has been a regular performer at Frankfurt Opera, appearing in such operas as Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia and Owen Wingrave and in Richard Jones’s new production of von Janácek’s The Makropulos Affair. She also soon became known as a Wagner interpreter, singing Zemina in the early work Die Feen and Gutrune in Götterdämmerung; she made her debut at the Hamburg Staatsoper with the latter role. Ulrich’s additional credits include the Aalto Theater Essen, the Nuremberg Staatsoper, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, and Seville. In the past season she also took part in a concert performance of Die Walküre in Berlin underMarek Janowski.
