The German mezzo-soprano Eva Vogel studied at the Mannes College of Music in New York and Yale University. She also took lessons with Christa Ludwig and Brigitte Fassbaender. Following engagements at the Cologne Opera Studio and at the opera companies in Düsseldorf and Innsbruck, Eva Vogel is now a freelance singer. She has given guest performances at the Royal Opera House in London, the Berlin Staatsoper, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Salzburg Easter Festival, and the Göttingen Handel Festival, as well as in Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Turin, New York, Tokyo, and Beijing. Her diverse concert repertoire ranges from Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony to Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été, Verdi’s Requiem, and Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde and also includes such rarities as the oratorio Weissagung und Erfüllung by the Swiss composer Hans Huber, which she has performed in Basel under Duncan Ward.
